The Sting of the Scorpion

The Sting of the Scorpion

People think it’s easy to write blog posts. But it’s not.

It’s really hard.

Every time I write one, in order to reach the computer I’m using to post the blog posts, I have to crawl through a tunnel made of raw meat and scorpions, in order to reach the chamber with the computer inside.

Not only am I a vegetarian, which makes the presence of raw meat hard for me.

Every single time I do the scorpion crawl, I get stung.

I get stung!

And let me tell you, scorpion tail stings hurt.

And so why do I keep doing it? Why am I blogging, despite all the pain and the dementia I’ve picked up after so many scorpion stings? Why does scorpion venom cause dementia?

It’s because blogging is my passion.

Writing used to be my passion. I worked hard at it, and felt that it mattered.

But now I’ve found blogging.

And what’s so great about blogging?

Well. That’s a hard question to answer. You might as well ask what’s so great about LiveJournaling.

But if I had to answer the question—and I don’t—I’d say that there’s a basement somewhere in the heartland of America where good things are happening. And the good things that are happening are being written on a blog. And that blog belongs to a man.

And to me? That’s the greatest thing in the world. And there’s nothing more American than that.
